美國(guó)University of California, Irvine電子工程系系主任Michael Green教授應(yīng)邀來(lái)北理工進(jìn)行“21世紀(jì)學(xué)科前沿”訪問(wèn)交流

  應(yīng)信息與電子學(xué)院邀請(qǐng),美國(guó)加州大學(xué)爾灣分校(University of California, Irvine)電子工程系系主任Michael Green教授于2012年10月17日到25日訪問(wèn)了我校。除了與信息學(xué)院微電子技術(shù)研究所在CMOS集成電路設(shè)計(jì)科研方面進(jìn)行了技術(shù)交流以外,Green教授為全系師生作了題為“Design Techniques for Multi-Giga-Bit-Per-Second CMOS Broadband Communication Circuits”的學(xué)術(shù)報(bào)告,報(bào)告介紹了他帶領(lǐng)的科研小組在近幾年做的一系列前沿性的研究。

  Green教授長(zhǎng)期致力于CMOS高速寬帶通訊集成電路的研究,在CMOS有線通訊(wire-line communication)領(lǐng)域享有很高的學(xué)術(shù)聲譽(yù)。他領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的團(tuán)隊(duì)研發(fā)出世界上第一款采用標(biāo)準(zhǔn)CMOS工藝的10Gbps寬帶通訊收發(fā)芯片。Green教授在報(bào)告中介紹了CMOS寬帶通訊集成電路設(shè)計(jì)的關(guān)鍵技術(shù)。

  Green教授還分別在良鄉(xiāng)校區(qū)和中關(guān)村校區(qū)為信息學(xué)院電子科學(xué)與技術(shù)方向的同學(xué)做了題為“EECS Undergraduate Advising”的講座并和學(xué)生一起探討了本專業(yè)本科生的學(xué)習(xí)生活和職業(yè)規(guī)劃等內(nèi)容。Green教授多年的科研經(jīng)歷和教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn),特別是在工業(yè)界與學(xué)術(shù)結(jié)合以及國(guó)際學(xué)生培養(yǎng)方面的經(jīng)驗(yàn),使他在對(duì)大學(xué)生能力培養(yǎng)和國(guó)際學(xué)生教育方面有獨(dú)到的見(jiàn)解。他的視角既有學(xué)術(shù)界的前瞻性又有工業(yè)界的實(shí)用性。引起與會(huì)師生的強(qiáng)烈關(guān)注和濃厚的興趣,會(huì)上師生們與Green教授進(jìn)行了充分的交流和討論。此外,在訪問(wèn)期間Green教授還與電子科學(xué)與技術(shù)專業(yè)有意去UC Irvine訪問(wèn)的本科生進(jìn)行了充分的交流。

  這次邀請(qǐng)Green教授來(lái)訪,除以上學(xué)術(shù)探討外,還進(jìn)一步就學(xué)生交換和聯(lián)合培養(yǎng)方面的相關(guān)事宜及科研方面建立合作研究等事項(xiàng)進(jìn)行了探討。Green教授在25日下午與信息學(xué)院副院長(zhǎng)薛正輝和劉家康教授就建立與加州大學(xué)更多方面的合作交換了意見(jiàn),并就下一步推動(dòng)兩校的合作達(dá)成了共識(shí)。

  Biography:

  Dr. Michael Green received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from University of California, Berkeley in 1984 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from University of California, Los Angeles in 1988 and 1991, respectively.

  He has been on the faculty of the EECS department at University of California, Irvine since 1997 and has been Chair of the department since September 2009.  From 1999 to 2001 he was an IC designer with the Optical Transport Group at Broadcom Corp. (formerly Newport Communications) where he was part of a design team that produced the world's first 10 Gigabit-per-second broadband transmitter chip using standard CMOS.  His current research interests include the design of analog & mixed-signal integrated circuits for use in high-speed broadband communication networks.

  Dr. Green was the recipient of the Outstanding Master's Degree Candidate Award in 1989 and the Outstanding Ph.D. Degree Candidate Award in 1991, both from the UCLA School of Engineering and Applied Science.  He is also the recipient of the Sigma Xi Prize for Outstanding Graduate Science Student at UCLA in 1991, the 1994 Guillemin-Cauer Award of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, the 1994 W. R. G. Baker Award of the IEEE, a 1994 National Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation and the Award for New Technical Concepts in Electrical Engineering from IEEE Region 1. He?is the guest editor of IEEE?Journal of Solid-State Circuits. He served on the technical program committees of?International Solid-State Circuit Conference. (ISSCC).
